Diving and ocean conservation
For divers, the protection of the environment, especially the oceans, should be self-evident. As a diving organization, we have gone one step further: All IDDA certifications are printed on recycled plastic cards. the recycled plastic comes from the ocean. Also we sell the “SaveTheOcean” cards.
Millions of tons of plastic waste end up in the sea every year. That’s the equivalent of a truckload every minute!

Plastic waste is a threat
Through an extensive process, plastic from the oceans is recycled and processed into new cards that can be used with a clear conscience. The quality of SAVEtheOCEAN cards is equivalent to conventional plastic cards. They can be printed individually and used as diving brevets. We use the cards for our brevets and also sell them to anyone interested.
Each kilogram of PVC extracted from the sea not only counteracts environmental pollution, but also saves 2 kg of CO2, since no new PVC has to be produced. The material, our “green plastic”, is certified and attested by the Bundesverband Druck und Medien e.V. (bvdm). Feel free to contact us if you are interested! Ghost nets
Just like plastic waste, ghost nets are a serious threat to the world’s oceans and its inhabitants.
We are also campaigning against ghost nets! We draw attention to ghost nets in our teaching material and also in the courses. Many of our diving centers regularly go on dives to specifically recover ghost nets. We support these dives! One example is the: “Baltic Sea Heritage Rescue Project” by Sabine Kerkau and Tom Kürten.
